Students reflect on the personal characteristics favored in the path to becoming a scientist.

DURATION :

2 -3 days, 45-60 minute class periods including individual research and peer presentations

SUBJECT AREAS : AP Biology and Biotechnology Pathways 

KEY CONCEPTS :

Individual skills need to be a successful professional, individual skills needed to be a scientist, describing what a scientist is, whom society thinks of as scientists, and imagining the possibility of becoming a scientist through individual research, informal class presentations, group/class discussions, and self reflection.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES :

To appreciate scientists from different backgrounds and to consider that the discipline of science is for everyone
